⋆ Trial of the Titans ⋆

 

It has been days since Erwin and Levi's visit. And still, you didn't have any news about Eren and the others, now thinking about Mikasa and Armin. And what about the rest of the 104th Trainees Squad? How many died at Trost? The consequences will come in many ways: starting the news. The nobles in Sina Interior will certainly be against Eren, seeing him as a threat or a sign of revolution. As for Wall Rose districts, they probably see him as some kind of hero, a new hope for Mankind. 

Sighing, you laid back down on your bed, staring at the blank ceiling with a bored expression. How long will you stay here? Till you're just a skeleton? No, it would sting too much for those poor soldiers of the Military Police. They probably never faced death before. You heard the door of the prison open, and the next thing you know, there's a strange woman staring at you with wide, creepy eyes. You let a startled noise, crawling away from her.

" Don't worry, Miss!  Are you okay? Do you need anything? " she blushed, smiling brightly and you gave her a weird look. 

" Huh...No? " you mumbled and she chuckled, taking out keys from her pocket.

" Ah, good! It seems you're getting out today! "

She opened the door and entered your cell, the soldiers behind her giving you a glare that meant business. She released you from the cuffs and you rubbed your swollen wrists in pain, only to cuff you again with others.

" Now, come with me~! "

You followed her outside and while walking to an unknown destination , she introduced herself:

" I'm Hange Zoe, a Survey Corps squad leader. Just like you years ago! " she said and a man started to sniff your neck. Jerking in surprise:

" What the-?! What are you doing?! "

" Oh, don't mind him. He's another squad leader, Mike Zacharius. He has the habit of smelling people he's just met, and then smirking...I don't think it has any real significance..."

" I-I s-see... " you stammered uncomfortably, eyeing him from the corner of your eyes. " But wait, wasn't he with Erwin in his soldier years? Why don't I remember you? "

" We probably didn't talk that much... " he answered quietly. 

" Yeah...probably, or else I would have remember someone who took my sent just to know how I smell..." you muttered and Mike chuckled under his breath. 

" Here we are! " said Hange, stopping in front of two doors. " We're going to fetch your little brother later...by that time you will probably be released...or killed " she said in a creepy tone and your eyes widened.

" W-wait " you stammered while two soldiers pushed you through the now open doors.

" Don't worry...I know it's selfish but we need to trust you blindly on that. Good luck ! " she said, closing the doors. You flinched at the sound and you gazed in front of you.

It was the military court. All this time you were under it without even knowing. You walked in the center of the room, the two soldiers hitting you with their guns once in a while. You observed the room and noticed that on the left side stood the Survey Corps and the Garrison while on the right side was the Military Police with citizens of Wall Sina.  You quickly caught sight of Mikasa and Armin, then Erwin and Levi who were silently observing you from their spot.

You stopped in the center and giant pole was put to tied you to it with the help of your cuffs. You were forced to sit down, eyeing frontward until the judge arrive.  There was a moment of silence before Darius Zackley, leader of the three military forces, entered the room. He sat down and took off his jacket by how hot the room was. He pulled out some papers and put them on the desk:

" Well...Let us begin " he said. He adjusted his glasses. " (Y/N) Jaeger, right? You are a soldier, sworn to sacrifice your life for the public good. Is that correct? "

" Yes, sir " you answered automatically. 

" This tribunal will be held under military, not civilian, law. The final decision rests entirely in my hands. Your fate will be decided here. Do you have any objections? " Zackley asked, eyeing upward from the papers. 

" No, sir " you muttered but loud enough for him to hear.

" I appreciate your perception. I will be direct. As anticipated, concealing your existence has proved impossible. We must make your existence public in some form, or a threat to humanity other than Titans may arise " he explained. " What I will decide today is which force will have custody of you: the Military Police? Or the Survey Corps? "

" Sir... " you cut in. " If I may have the right to speak before we hear the proposals? "

" Go on "

" There are evidences...that I'm not a Titan...so I think it's useless for me to have that kind of trial- " you spoke but was cut from a man on the right side.

" She is a devil! She speaks madness right now! " he snarled and you gave him an incredulous look. " Do not listen to her filthy lies! "

" Filthy lies? What do you know about me? Go on, I'm all ears " you said dangerously and the man stopped when he saw the hardened look on your face. 

" We know a lot of things " interjected the commander of the Military Police. " And my proposal goes with it: I, Commander of the Military Police, Nile Dawk, will present my proposal. After a thorough investigation of (Y/N)'s body, we believe she should be eliminated immediately   " said Nile, giving you a look before continuing. " It's certainly true that her Titan power overcame our previous peril- "

" I don't have this power! " you yelled in irritation. " Eren does and he used it to safe your lives! He is the reason why we all here today, listening to this nonsense when we already know I wasn't in the Titan in the first place when he lifted that boulder!!! "

" What you're saying is nonsense too, invasive pest! She has deceived the walls that embody God's wisdom!She must be killed at once! " said a priest and you felt the urge to emancipate someone on spot. 

" Priest Nick, I will ask for calm  " ordered Zackley. At that moment, Commander Pixis lifted his hand and Darius nodded his head to him. " You have a word to say, Commander Pixis? "

" This is for the favor of Miss (Y/N) Jaeger. It's the truth in what she is saying. At numerous occasions, we saw her intervene in Trost without the use of Titan powers...Of course, we can't explain the reason why we found her inside Eren the moment he came out of his Titan form, but one thing for sure: she isn't a threat to Mankind in any way "

" Plus, my only proposal is for her to join back our ranks in the Survey Corps " explained Erwin. " She is a worthy soldier and would be a shame for her to die for...injustice..."

" Not a threat to Mankind you said? " scoffed Nile. " We have some proof here that could contradict your thoughts of Miss (Y/N)..."


At that, your eyes widened slightly. They won't pull out this card, won't they? Those bastards!

" What do you mean, Commander? " asked Erwin, not slightly confuse of what he was talking about.

" We have some information concerning (Y/N) Jaeger....At the age of 8 years old, she was kidnapped by a group of bandits traveling in the mountains, after a certain misunderstanding with her family and decided to ran away from home. Our squads finally retrieve her at the base of Wall Maria, still inside her the house of her captors and what we found is...inexplicable. There was a total over 100 men in this organization of the black market. Total of survivors when we fetch the girl: 0. (Y/N) Jaeger killed them all, for the fact she was covered in blood "

Everyone gasped in shock and in fright. Levi let out a whistle, almost admiring you for a moment. Erwin stood there, frozen on the spot while both of Mikasa and Armin were trying their best to not show any surprise...which they failed at. You hung your head low, feeling a headache slowly coming.

" Of course, it was self-defense...but there is something bogging me in this story: we never knew how she did this- "

" Poison "

" Huh? " hummed Nile, looking up from his papers.

" Poison " you repeated, lifting your head to set your hardened expression on the man. " I used poison...Bandits need to eat someday and since I was assigned with kitchen duties..."

" But it doesn't explain the blood part "

" Some of them didn't get fazed by it...They certainly ate a lot of inconsumable  things in their life " you muttered. " They tortured and sold people in the black market or creepy merchants in the underground cities....So I did what I needed to..."

" Does she still seems innocent to you, Commander Erwin? " asked Nile, glaring at the blond man. 

" Innocent or not isn't the question right now! " you yelled. " What I want to get through your thick skull is that I'm not a Titan! My loyalty resides with Mankind! I contribute by killing monsters! But as you can see, monsters come in many shapes and forms " 

Only silence was met after you spoke. The citizens didn't know what to decide and the look Erwin was giving stressed you out a little. Was it too much? Zackley only sighed:

" Miss (Y/N) Jaeger, how can we be sure that your loyalty is truly with Mankind? " he said after a moment. You thought about it for a moment, sweating slightly when didn't come up with a proper answer, until you looked down and saw your necklace.

" Wait! I know! The necklace! " you answered.

" The necklace? " he repeated and you nodded your head vigorously.

" The necklace shines when a Titan shifter like Eren is in close range...But it only works on me "

" She only says that to save her life! " growled Nile. " How can we trust this rubbish? "

" It's the truth " said Mikasa.

" Yes, we had the proof when Eren stopped the cannon's bullet " explained Armin.

" I can assure you that necklace is totally useless without its true possessor " lied Commander Pixis and you gave an expression of pure shock. He winked and you smiled secretly.

" Sir, this is my last words before you make the decision: I can contribute and save ton of lives by joining the Survey Corps with the help of this necklace " you finally said.

" Hmm...I have made my decision: Miss Jaeger, your life rest in the hands of the Survey Corps "

You were waiting inside a room, while Eren was having his trial. You were worried as fuck. What if in the end he fell in the Military Police? They will certainly dissect or use him in some experiments. You shuddered at the thought and let out a startled noise when the door opened to show a smiling Erwin.

" We did it " he said and you jumped in the air while cheering loudly.

Eren entered the room, followed by Hange, Mike and Levi. Your cheering was stopped when you noticed Eren's attire. His cheeks were grazed and swollen. You let out screech and quickly took him by his shoulders.

" OH MY GOD, EREN! WHAT HAPPENED TO YOU?! " you screamed and Eren flinched at the move, pain filling his body. Erwin smiled nervously while Levi scoffed. 

" Let's say I did what I needed to " answered the short man with a smirk, taking back your words.

" You're the one behind this?!!! " you snarled angrily, preparing yourself to beat up some shorty. " I will kick you so hard in the asshole that maybe you will gain some more inch!!! "  

" I would like to see you try, brat! " scowled Levi, taking a defensive stance. 

" Why you punk- "

" (Y/N), please, calm down " ordered Erwin, soothing you before you really kill someone. 

" Anyway, I agree with (Y/N)...you went a little too far, Levi " said Hange, sitting down Eren on a couch. " Does it hurt? "

" A little bit... " he muttered.

" I'm sorry, but thanks to that, we had you turned over to us " said Erwin, crouching down in front of Eren. 

" Yes, sir "

" The pain you endured allowed me to play my cards at the right moment. You have my respect " he said, extending a hand for him to take. " Eren, I look forward to working with you "

" Yes, sir! Thank you! " said Eren and he flinched in terror when Levi sat down next to him, leaning comfortably on the couch. You gave him a warning look but Levi ignored it.

" Hey, Eren... Do resent me? " he asked and Eren shook his head.

" N-no... "

" That's my job, punk ass " you muttered dangerously and Erwin sweated at the dark look you were giving the short man.

"  I understand it was necessary... "

" That's good "

" But you took it too far. He lost a tooth! See? " said Hange, showing to them the tooth in question and you nearly lost consciousness at that moment. 

" YOU LOST A TOOTH?! DIE YOU LITTLE BITCH " you raged and nearly punched Levi in the face if he wasn't of him and catching your wrist at the last moment.

" You picked it out?...That's creepy " groaned in disgust Levi, struggling to keep you from beating him to a pulp, even with his strength.

" Even this is an important sample..."

" Eren, it's even better than be dissected by her, right? "

" I'm not like them, I wouldn't kill him. Now, open your mouth! " she asked to Eren who did so and she let out a gasp. " Your tooth...It already grown back... "

" See? No need to kill me now " said Levi, still struggling with you but it went on deaf ears. " Erwin, can you let me alone with her? There matters that I need to discuss with her... "

" Alright, try to not be ruthless...Eren, come with me " ordered Erwin. Eren gave you a look before standing up and leaving the room with Hange and Mike.

The moment the door closed itself, Levi didn't waste any time that he kicked you on the knees. You let out a grunt and you fell on them. Levi brought a fist in your stomach and you coughed saliva, stumbling on the ground. Panting at the lack of oxygen, he passed a hand in your hair and grabbed them, lifting your head so your eyes can meet his.

" Now listen to me, brat...I'm the one in control from now on. If you do funny shits or something like that, I won't hesitate to cut you down, understand? " he said darkly and you paled slightly.

" Understand " you greeted your teeth in pain. He grabbed your chin, puffing your cheeks. 

" Good...You know, I think you caught my interest with this fierce attitude of yours...maybe I will keep a close eye on you " he smirked and you struggled in his hold.
